Undergoing a surgery of any kind is bound to be stressful, but if everything goes as planned you’ll recover and be able to return to your everyday tasks. Unfortunately, recovery is often upended when surgeons act negligently. One of the more common acts of negligence we see involves surgical instruments getting left inside patients. What Age Group is Involved in the Most Car Accidents?

Auto wrecks are not exclusive experiences to just one age group—they can happen to anybody at any time on the road. But data shows that some age groups are more prone to getting into accidents than others. According to the AAA Foundation, drivers under 17 are involved in the most crashes each year, and their crash rate is almost double those of ages 18 to 19, and almost five times the crash rate of adults in the 30 to 39, 40 to 49, and 50 to 59 age groups.

Young drivers don’t have the experience that older drivers have behind the wheel, and it can lead to more collisions when they drive. They might take greater risks because they’ve never been in that particular driving scenario before and panic, speed because they think they need to get somewhere quickly rather than safely, or follow another car too closely because they don’t realize how much room they need to leave to stop in an emergency. When individuals think about those most at risk for abuse, children come to mind first. This is probably because of their age and the lack of agency that comes with being young. The Dangers of Poor Oral Hygiene in a Nursing Home

When you trust the care of your loved one to a nursing home, you expect only the best care to be provided. Some long-term care facilities provide just that, but sadly, not all of them supply optimal care for all of their residents. In fact, the National Council on Aging (NCOA) reports that 10% of Americans over the age of 60 have experienced one or more forms of elder abuse.

When residents aren’t being neglected, staff is typically more focused on other health problems that might seem more pressing than dental hygiene. Even if patients have dental insurance or complain of pain, many staff members at nursing homes are not prepared to address dental health problems. But in the elderly, poor dental health can cause a quick decline in overall health.
